My great grand mother was born in chernovitz Rumanía and her name is sophia gelber glattstein. She came into chile as refugee. She leaved Bremen the 15 of june 1948. Comments: Hello, I am Leslie Rapp Gaines of Philadelphia Pennsylvaina, USA. I am responding to Loreto Guiterrez from Chile. My paternal grandmother was Karoline Gelber Rapp, of Radutzi (Raudatz) and Czernowitz in the Bukovina region in what is now Romania. She escaped to the United States in 1948. Her father was Marcus Gelber who managed a horse farm in the area, and who was killed in WW1 defending the farm. His wife was Yetta Folander Gelber, who died before WW2. Max, David and Joseph Gelber all survived the wars. Max and David emigrated to Philadelphia, and Joseph emigrated to Israel. My grandmother died in 1974. I also have cousins here in Philadelphia. I would love to know if your grandmother is related to us!
